"This collection of work was inspired by living and painting in the Zion National Park as an Artist in Residence in 2014.  As a Graphic Designer I had not painted many Landscapes.  Imagine beginning in such a beautiful and overwhelming place!

 

"These small Caseins (opaque milk based paint) were a simple way to explore and learn how to interpret artistically such a complex and varied land. My work experiments with both design and realism. How much of my work is my own addition of abstraction, line, and pattern, and how do these interplay with what I am seeing as physically there. I spent days wandering and letting the land sink into psyche. So many of these images are vertical scenes as a result of my time, deep in the canyon, looking up…awestruck!"  - Michal Onyon
