Class Description

June 16th- Rainforest Bridge This lesson focuses on the element of space through learning about, drawing and overlapping the various layers of rainforest flora and fauna. Students will get to choose the animals and plants that they want to draw in their rainforest habitat and then they will paint their scene. Texture and emphasis are added last with the addition of a hanging rainforest bridge made from yarn and a few popsicle sticks. June 17th- Sloth Hanging Around This sloth lesson focuses on reinforcing the color wheel by only using the three secondary colors: violet, orange and green. In addition, students will create their own leaf stencils for their rainforest background. June 18th- Jungle Jaguar The technique focus in this lesson is teaching students how to use markers most effectively. Featuring simple materials, the lesson results are anything but simple. The bright and lively folk art-inspired patterns help this jaguar to stand out from their jungle home. A fun paper-cutting technique helps the jaguar to emerge out of the lush jungle. June 19th- Rainforest Collage Your students will love the variety of art-making techniques found in this lesson inspired by the rainforests of South America. First, they will have a chance to explore the fun process of paint scraping as they create their textured rainforest background. Next, they will have a chance to hone their drawing skills as they create the animal or animals of their choice that will be cut out and assembled on the background to create a fabulous rainforest collage.
