Class Description

August 4th Cowboy Poetry Painting processes and poetry are combined in this lesson that will have students exploring different painting techniques and writing their own color poems. Students will focus on value and texture while creating the colored paper needed for their artwork. Then, they’ll focus on line as they cut the interesting pieces needed from books and ephemera for each line of their poem. August 5th Wilderness Collage In this lesson, students will focus on pattern, line, and space while working on either a paint or no paint version of their landscape. To take their project one step further, students have the option of adding an image of an animal from a magazine in the landscape’s foreground to create contrast between realism and abstraction. August 6th Southwest Landscape Drawing landscapes focuses on the layers of the composition. The bottom of the paper is the foreground, the middle of the paper is the middle ground, and the top of the paper is the background and is the farthest away from the viewer. Colors can be incorporated into the layers as well. August 7th Outlaw Self-Portrait Create your own outlaw personality as you create a self-portrait with paint and collage. Imagine what you would be wanted for.
