All pieces must be created between Jan 25, 2024 and Feb 24, 2024.

Call for entries!  We are pleased to announce our 10th Annual Plein Air Competition.

This year’s theme, In the Shadows, asks artists to explore shadows and contrasting light.

Artists of all ages and skill-levels are invited to submit work in any medium as long as the piece meets the requirements listed below. The show will be judged by a guest juror. Winners will receive cash awards and be announced at the opening reception on March 1, 2024 6:00-8:00pm.

The Plein Air Competition will be on view at the Bountiful Davis Art Center March 1 through March 23, 2024.

Requirements:

• Art may be created in any medium (i.e. oil, watercolor, sculpture, photography, fiber).
• Artists may work anywhere in Utah.
• Art must be created mostly outdoors and be a depiction of that outdoor site.
• Artists may submit up to three pieces; each piece requires a separate online registration.
• Art must be created between the dates of January 25 and February 24, 2024.
• Art must be dropped-off, ready to install, with all required hanging hardware. To be compatible with our hanging system, we require that all frames have D-rings and a wire. Excessively fragile, wet, or poorly-framed work may be rejected at the discretion of BDAC staff. Due to glare and handling concerns, BDAC does not recommend framing with glass, especially for fresh oil paintings.

How to submit your work:

Pay the $5 registration fee. You will receive an email with a link to the artwork submission form. All forms will be submitted online.

Art drop-off: 

Feb 21 - Feb 23  10 am-6 pm

Feb 24 12 pm - 5pm
