2025 Theme: Water's Edge
This year’s theme, Water’s Edge, invites artists to interpret the relationship between land and water in all its forms—literal or abstract, visible or imagined. From tranquil reflections and shifting tides to moments of connection, movement, or change, artists are encouraged to explore the edges—where elements meet and meanings emerge.
The BDAC Plein Air Competition is open to all artists living and working in Utah. We welcome a wide range of perspectives and encourage artists of all experience levels to participate. As part of our ongoing mission to nurture creativity within our immediate community, BDAC is committed to ensuring a strong representation of Davis County artists in the exhibition.
Open to All Utah Artists
All submitted work must be original and created within the last 2 years, with preference given to new work created specifically for the 2025 BDAC Plein Air Competition. Artists are encouraged to work outdoors in the plein air tradition, pieces may be developed from any location that inspires a connection to the theme. There are no restrictions on size or medium—artists are free to express their vision using the materials and formats that best suit their approach. Accepted work must be dropped off ready to hang.
