Painting the Great West: A Plein Air Competition

In celebration of America 250, the Bountiful Davis Art Center invites artists of all ages and skill levels to participate in this year’s plein air painting event in Mueller Park Canyon.

Rooted in the tradition of painting “in the open air,” this gathering offers an opportunity to engage directly with the landscapes that continue to shape the identity of the American West. Artists are encouraged to spend time observing, interpreting, and responding to the natural environment—capturing shifting light, atmosphere, and personal perspective.

This event is designed to be both inclusive and accessible: any registered participant will have the opportunity to exhibit their work in BDAC’s Underground Gallery. Whether you are an experienced painter or simply enjoy working outdoors, all are welcome to take part and share in the experience of creating and exhibiting.
