About

This fall, BDAC joins the global network of Art21 Screening Society hosts in presenting Artists and the Unknown, an evening of film and conversation that explores how contemporary artists engage with life’s mysteries, uncertainties, and surprises.

Screening Society events bring communities together to experience free access to Art21’s acclaimed documentary films. By pairing screenings with discussion, BDAC invites audiences to explore how artists across the globe embrace the unpredictability of life as a force that shapes culture, creativity, and human connection.

About Artists and the Unknown

The screening is inspired by Art21’s newest book, Artists & the Unknown: Art21 Interviews with Artists, a collection drawn from two decades of in-depth conversations. The films selected for this program highlight artists who embrace randomness, complexity, and unknowability in their practice.

Featured artists include:

  • Linda Goode Bryant — Educator, activist, filmmaker, and farmer whose projects empower communities to pursue the “impossible.”
