Draped Gesture Drawing with Erin Meads

Ages 16+

This workshop offers students the opportunity to draw the gestural pose from a live model. Students will learn simplified concepts that aid in selecting pertinent information from the figure to include in short poses. Repetition of poses and the application of these concepts will allow students to become more fluent in the practice of gesture drawing. Both lecture and demonstrations will be used to teach these concepts as well as individual critiques. Instead of merely copying each pose, students will be encouraged to see and represent the beauty inspired by each individual pose in their own unique way.

Please bring the following supplies with you to the workshop

· 18” x 24” Newsprint paper

· Appropriately sized drawing board with clips

· Conté, Charcoal, or Nu-Pastel drawing mediums

    -I like General’s Charcoal Pencils – 4B

    -I like Conté Sticks and Conté Pencils – 1B (Conté à Paris brand)

· White conté or pastel

· Kneaded eraser

· Single edge razor blade

· Sanding block
