July 29 Poseidon Collage-
As the sea god, Poseidon is the protector of sea travelers. He made calm seas and would create islands for lost travelers who pleased him. For this project students will have the opportunity to draw Poseidon with oil pastels and then use paint and collage to accentuate their work.
July 30- Model Magic Medusa
Talk about a bad hair day. This lesson highlights Medusa’s snake hair by making 3D snakes formed out of Model Magic and positioned on Medusa’s head.
July 31st Pegasus Watercolor
Your young artist will love drawing this simple Pegasus and then they will enjoy the freedom of painting him with a bright rainbow of watercolors! This project is finished off by balancing Pegasus in the center of a star splattered background.
August 1st Griffin Mixed Media-
This art lesson is based on the fresco of griffins that guard the throne room of an ancient palace in Greece. After drawing the mythical animal, students can add designs and patterns to give their griffin a royal look. The background is plants stamped with cardboard and paint, making this project truly a mix of mediums.
August 2nd Cyclops Watercolor
Drawing a mythical one-eyed giant is sure to capture the attention and imagination of your students. Students can put their own creative spin on their cyclops as they draw characteristics to make their project unique. The addition of tiny sheep around the cyclops’ feet really gives the illusion that the cyclops is a giant!
