Week 1: Medieval Banners

This activity puts a sparkly spin on the banners flown during medieval and renaissance times! Students will enjoy drawing either a whimsical lion or unicorn for his/her banner. We will then add a pendant at the bottom and a wooden hanger and ribbon at the top to finish the banner off with a sense of balance.

Week 2: Royal Self-Portraits

Students will use tempera paint and drawing with black paint to create these stunning Fairy Tale Royals. Tie-in the history of playing cards, and you have a fun spin on renaissance art!

Week 3: Coat of Arms

Using historical symbols and a combination of person symbols, students will create a large coat of arms that represents his/her personal interests and family.

Week 4: Knight Chalk-Rubbing

Using the techniques of chalk rubbing, students will create a design using a knight's helmet
