Thresholds are limits, spaces between here and there, moments of transition that terminate a range of other possibilities. My work captures these moments at
thresholds as that decisive movement into the future is taken, and moments just past thresholds when consequence becomes apparent.
My work is my relationship to a series of thresholds. As I frame an idea, compose the core image, define the range of color, draw each of an image’s vector elements, select weaving patterns, and select colorways for warp and we, each decision, each shape, each vector’s position in a z-axis stack informs, constrains, and defines my possible subsequent choices. The way forward necessarily
prunes the manifold of other possible choices available to me. Do I make the correct choices? I must make to know.
When I was young, I was told that I could do anything I wanted. The adults of my when that was neglected to tell me that I couldn’t do everything I might want.
Closing the doors of alternate future histories is a necessary step in realizing my imagery, a fundamental life skill.
