Class Description

April 09: Edible Garden Collage Using printmaking techniques to create a textured background students will create an environment for edible plants to grow. They will choose the fruit or vegetable they would like to draw and then collage them onto the background. April 16:Garden Gnome Home Your students will love using their imaginations to create a toadstool home that is perfect for a little gnome. This lesson was inspired by the whimsical garden statues that Germany is known for. Students will use different types of lines and shapes to design the home’s charming exterior. After that, they will create a background of dense leaves to give the illusion of space and put the toadstool in proportion. That’s not all, though. Lift the exterior flap to reveal an interior view of the gnome’s cozy home, complete with all of its furnishings inside. April 23: Glass Jar Terrariums Students will be able to choose a jar and a variety of rocks, moss and other soils to layer in a jar and create a 3D environment reminiscent of a fairy garden April 30: Sun Prints Sun prints, also known as “cyanotype printing,” is the process of making prints by placing items on light-sensitive paper and letting the sun create the print. Amazing prints can be made with natural elements. Students will forage items to print, or you can bring in a selection of leaves, flowers or feathers. We will place them on the paper and watch the sun turn it into a beautiful print.
