Meet Qing Wu & Henry Luu: Masters of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting

Incredible Chinese calligrapher Henry Luu and painter Qing Qu are  known for their exquisite craftsmanship and dedication to preserving traditional Chinese art forms. They have dedicated many years to mastering and teaching the delicate art of calligraphy and painting. Their works are characterized by  elegance and precision, capturing the beauty and tranquility of nature through each brushstroke.

The Art of Chinese Calligraphy

Chinese calligraphy is a revered art form that combines visual artistry with deep cultural significance. In this workshop, Henry Luu will introduce participants to the foundational techniques of calligraphy, guiding them through the use of traditional brushes and xuan (rice paper). Participants will learn to create beautiful, flowing strokes that convey both meaning and aesthetic beauty. Calligraphy is not only about writing but also about expressing one’s spirit and emotions through the disciplined movement of the brush.

The Beauty of Cherry Blossom Paintings

In addition to calligraphy, Qing Wu will teach the art of Chinese painting, focusing on cherry blossoms, a beloved subject in Chinese art symbolizing beauty, renewal, and the transient nature of life. Using traditional techniques, participants will learn to paint delicate cherry blossoms, capturing their elegance and grace on xuan paper. This process requires patience and a steady hand, skills that Qing will help each participant develop throughout the workshop.

Hands-On Learning with the Cultural Experts

This workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn from cultural experts who bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to their teaching. They will walk participants through each step of the process, ensuring that everyone can follow along and create their own beautiful works of art.
