Organic Pigments Workshop – Part 1: Avocado & Hibiscus Flowers

Have you ever wondered how to create paint from flowers, fruits, vegetables, and other organic elements? If so, this workshop is for you!

In this first session, we will explore the process of making organic pigments using avocado seeds and hibiscus flowers, resulting in beautiful pink and lilac inks. Since the preparation of these pigments takes approximately 24 hours, all materials and inks will be ready for use during the workshop.

This workshop is open to the public—everyone is welcome! Bountiful Davis Art Center will provide the materials, but we encourage you to bring a visual reference for your painting, such as printed photographs, images on your phone, or a meaningful object.

The workshop will be conducted in English and Spanish by Sara Serratos, a Mexican visual artist and educator, a migrant with ancestral roots in Utah.
