Familiar Satiation

Jaxsen M. Layton

Exhibition Run Dates:

Artist Statement

Cognitive processes; conscious, subconscious, and unconscious, when observed become an accumulation of past, present, and future experiences and influences. Taking inspiration from my own life, the human body, botanical forms, patterns, and repetition, I hope to gain a better understanding of our ever changing world, and the relationship I have with it and other people.

With the overwhelming amount of info we all encounter every day, I have recently been interested in the idea of visual satiation, and the transmutation of information to create work that feels both obscured and yet entirely visible.

Still but animated objects Movement in perspective Agitation to change, flowing, condensing, coagulating Wet and dry, undulating Deconstruction, building and cycling Auros borus, eating and regurgitating information Rising, Falling, inhaling, exhaling.
