Aleta Boyce is a talented artist and dedicated teacher with over 15 years of experience working with high school and college students. She started her art journey with a degree in Drawing and Painting from Cameron University in Oklahoma, and later earned a Master's in Instructional Design and Educational Technology from the University of Utah. Her mix of traditional art skills and modern teaching methods makes her a thoughtful and creative instructor.
Over the years, Aleta has taught a wide range of subjects, including drawing, painting, ceramics, web design, computer graphics, and digital photography. She’s always found ways to bring together old and new approaches, helping students grow in their artistic abilities while staying open to new ideas. One of her contributions to art education in Utah was designing and teaching online Art History courses for Utah Electronic High School, allowing students from all over the state to learn and engage with art from a distance.
Outside the classroom, Aleta has worked in both freelance and corporate commercial art. And no matter where life takes her, she’s never far from her sketchbook and watercolors, which she always keeps by her side.
Since retiring, Aleta has focused more on her own creative projects. In her spacious new studio, close to her garden, she still paints, but now she’s spending most of her time making assemblage sculptures. She loves to combine materials like ceramics, paper clay, found objects, and even LED lights to create something unexpected. Aleta’s work often plays with the ordinary, making it into something new and fun. You can explore more of Aleta’s work by visiting her website at aletaboyce.com.
