Class Description

This class is designed for creative people who want to learn the basics of drawing and sketching while developing their artistic eye and confidence. We will explore how to observe shapes, lines, patterns, light, and details in everyday life and translate what we see onto paper. Through simple demonstrations and hands-on practice, you will learn foundational drawing techniques and discover how to bring your sketches to life using pen and ink, watercolor, colored pencils, gouache, and other creative mediums. Whether sketching a favorite object, a landscape, or a scene that catches your eye, you will learn to slow down, look more closely, and find inspiration in the world around you. No experience is necessary—just a desire to explore, experiment, and enjoy the wonderful process of creating art! Supply List: (Available online at Amazon, Blick, Jerry's Artarama. I studied at Snow College with Carl Purcell and Oswald Allred and have had the privilege of learning from more than 175 professionally recognized artists. My artistic journey has taken me through a variety of mediums and styles, with a love for both studio painting and plein air. One of my most inspiring experiences was spending 10 days painting outdoors in France this past spring, capturing its beautiful light, architecture, and landscapes. Drawing and sketching remain at the heart of my artistic practice, and I rarely go anywhere without a sketchbook pencil and pen. I believe that careful observation, daily sketching, and understanding value are essential to artistic growth. As both an artist and teacher, I find great joy in exploring the creative process and sharing my passion for art and what I have learned over many years. I love encouraging others to slow down, observe the world more closely, and discover the lasting joy of creating art.
